The sun was absolutely gorgeous today, bright with no clouds in the sky and scorchio! Following a recommendation from Maggie and David, Patrick and I decided to go in to Palafrugell to check out their food market. We left B at the villa soaking up the rays and floating about on Cheska.
Palafrugell is about a 15 minute ride from Begur, not as pretty but had a lot of shops and the famous Carrefour. It is clearly a lived in town.
We parked at Carrefour and walked in to the centre of town to find the market, on the way we found an elusive postbox and managed to post B's postcards. We have hunted high and low in Begur and there doesn't seem to be any post boxes there.
Next we walked through the fruit and vegetable market, quickly of course as they are not food groups that feature on Patrick's radar. Then we found the fish market and Patrick stood there holding his nose like a five year old, we finally worked out what sea bass were and were close to ordering when some Spanish dragon pushed in front of us and bought all but two! Thankfully we were next and Patrick succeeded in ordering two (don't panic, we wanted two) and getting them gutted, then we took them home for the BBQ!
Now as we were parked in Carrefour Patrick couldn't resist a quick visit, he managed to get some Pedro Ximenez (PX) which he had been on the hunt for since we'd got some sausages in it in town one night.
The rest of the day was spent lounging by the pool and sunbathing, oh it's a hard life!!
In other news I finally finished Papillon, it was a good story but it went on far too long, started Room tonight which is a nice easy read once you get past the annoying way the child Jack tells the story.
B has finished Mr Grey and is on to Peaches for Monsieur Le Cure, she tried to make me read Jilly Cooper's Riders but i dodged it!
