Day 1 - Calais to Saint Flour

We were out by 8 am and started our longest day of travelling, thanks to the hotel we had travel cups which we made up so my first cuppa was drunk in the car :)

 

We had quite a few stops, one for breakfast;  pain au chocolate for him and a Suisse for me which seemed very similar to a pain au chocolate but had the added amazingness of crème patisserie – yum. 

We had a further stop at the biggest Carrefour we have ever seen, it’s called a Planet FFS!  Patrick purchased another of his beloved grills and off we went.

We ended up driving through Paris for some reason on the Peripheriqe, it was rather busy but Patrick was fine, his driving style suits the French.   We saw the top part of the Eiffel tower.  Not a lover of Paris to be honest.  

No idea what this is

We stopped again for tea but there was no tea (disgrace!) so I had to have hot chocolate.  (I’m afraid this is about as exciting as today got).

We are now tucked up in Saint Flour our stop for the night, it’s bloody freezing which is sad because the day started with bright blue skies and sunshine.  We can hear baa lambs baa-ing outside, hope they don’t stop us sleeping or Patrick may catch one and cook it on his grill.

I have a nice cup of tea – yay for travel kettles and long life milk.

Tomorrow we are off to Carcassone via Millau and Roquefort, should be fun.
