Birthday Cake prep

I am beginning to prep a birthday cake for a friend.  The trick with cakes is to plan them ahead and start preparing what you can as far in advance as possible.  You just can't do everything at the last minute.

I wanted to make a rose to go on the cakeboard and the colour theme for this cake is yellows and golds.

Here is the rose i've made, it's the biggest one i've made so far and i'm quite pleased with it.  I still haven't quite got the initial bud part right though!

I saw these roses while walking to the station this morning, i love this colour and i took a picture to help me with my bud.
