I am still shocked and genuinely saddened by the news of Marco Simoncelli's passing today. If you don't follow MotoGP, he was a very promising young rider, only 24, he had already had two podiums in the MotoGP class and was definitely one to watch. Today he died in a horrific accident involving Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards. There was nothing anybody could have done and it is pointless to talk of how dangerous bike racing is. They all know what they are doing, they all race willingly. It is very rare for there to be a fatality.
I hope that Rossi and Edwards can come to terms with what happened today quickly, it is nobody's fault.
Finally my heart goes out to his parents and his girlfriend, their worlds and hearts have broken today and MotoGP will not be the same from now on.
